At the origin of "A Course in Miracles" there are two people making the sudden decision to join together for a common goal. Their names were Helen Schucman and William Thetford, and they were professors of medical psychology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City. It doesn’t matter who they were, except that history shows that with God all things are possible. They had no interest in spirituality. Their relationship was difficult and often tense, and they were most concerned about being accepted and recognized on a personal and professional level.
