EasySun

Every day, while our watches mechanically divide the hours into perfect segments, another clock continues to silently govern the rhythm of the world: the sundial. Its mechanisms, invisible but rigorously precise, rely on quantities that few consciously perceive: the equation of time, the declination of the Sun, and the daily dance of apparent sunrise and sunset.

In these oscillations, these slight delays, these imperceptible variations, the cosmos expresses something essential: time is not just a measurement... it is a movement, a breath, a presence.

The Equation of Time

The equation of time, measured in minutes, represents the difference between true solar time and mean solar time.
The Earth does not move around the Sun with perfect regularity, and its slightly tilted axis gives the day an irregular rhythm.
Sometimes the Sun seems ahead, sometimes behind.

Solar Declination

Expressed in degrees, the Sun’s declination is simply its position above or below the equatorial plane.
In a more symbolic interpretation, it becomes the oscillation of the Sun’s gaze, sometimes directed towards the North, sometimes towards the South.
This variable inclination weaves together the seasons, shapes the length of the days, and determines the rhythm of shadows and the temperature of silences.

Apparent Sunrise and Sunset

Sunrise, like sunset, is never exactly where pure geometry would predict.
Atmospheric refraction raises the solar disk, offering our eyes an early appearance and a delayed farewell.

Sun Noon

At solar noon, when the sun reaches its highest point, time seems to straighten itself.
The shadow folds in on itself, and the light falls like a perfect column.
It is a moment of astronomical truth, but also a symbolic vertical: the encounter between Earth and celestial brilliance in its most direct form.

The Time Zone

The time zone we use superimposes its structure onto celestial mechanics.
It reminds us that our civilization attempts to frame what the sky naturally provides.
But behind time zones and digital clocks, the Sun still remains master: no electronic signal can supplant its immemorial path.
