Luis Ansa

The Way of Feeling

In the 1990s, Luis Ansa developed ‘The Way of Feeling’, a spiritual approach that emphasises returning to the body and consciously awakening bodily sensations.

This path offers reconciliation with the body and a presence to oneself, purified of all doctrine and erudition.

From the plateaus of the Andes, where he was initiated at a young age by the shamans of Lake Titicaca, to the East and West, Luis Ansa, explorer of global cultures, invites us on an inner journey to meet ourselves.

Luis Ansa, the art of the Shaman

Painter, writer, initiated into shamanism at a very early age, Luis Ansa talks to us about the art of the Shaman, which is rooted in the awakening of bodily sensation, the loving relationship with living beings.

A researcher rooted in mystery

Luis Ansa rejected dogma and spiritual hierarchies. He did not teach a belief, but a way of coming into direct contact with the living mystery.
For him, the sacred was not elsewhere: it is in the body, in the breath, in the present moment.
‘Mystery is everywhere. We are not lacking it; it is we who are lacking in its presence.’
This approach is based on direct experience, a form of intuitive and carnal perception of reality, free from mental filters.

The man behind the mystic

Although recognised as a spiritual master by many seekers, Luis Ansa remained deeply humble and free.
He refused to institutionalise his teachings. His gaze, his humour and his way of addressing people often touched them more deeply than elaborate speeches.
‘I am not here to give you a method, but to awaken in you what you already know.’

Legacy and influence

His journey has inspired many writers and spiritual seekers. The writer Henri Gougaud dedicated the novel Le Secret de l’aigle (The Secret of the Eagle) to him, which blends reality and myth around his figure.
The Way of Feeling continued to be passed on in a living way, by word of mouth, far from the commercial circuits of modern spirituality.
More than a teaching, Luis Ansa left behind a presence: a way of inhabiting the world with intensity, gentleness and lucidity.

An embodied mystic

In an era often marked by fragmentation, Luis Ansa reminded us that the sacred is not somewhere else, but a profound intimacy.
His mysticism is not celestial, but earthly.
It does not require us to rise up, but to descend into ourselves to taste the mystery living in every breath, every gesture, every encounter.

Luis Ansa shared this teaching in his painting studio in Paris until his death in 2011.
